  • Equipment/clothing free of charge - Mini Mine Explorer: A hard hat and hand torch is provided. Maxi Mine Explorer: Helmet, cap lamp, lamp belt & safety clips Maxi Mine Explorer: Helmet, cap lamp, lamp belt & safety clips A pair of wellies can also be provided if necessary. We recommend that all explorers wear 2 pairs of thick socks, the temperature underground is a cool 8 degrees, whatever the temperature abovegroud.

  • Indoor Attraction - Corris Mine Explorers takes you underground into an abandoned Welsh slate mine.
  • Outdoor Attraction - There is a short walk up a steep path to the mine entrance which is all outside. You then enter the mine and explore underground.
  • Smoking Some Areas - Smoking is not permitted underground in the old Braich Goch slate mine. Smoking is permitted above ground before and after your mine exploration.

Road Directions

Find us at the Corris Craft Centre on the main A487 road between Dolgellau and Machynlleth. We're on The Wales Way and the Snowdonia360 route. What3words: ///entry.theme.golden

Public Transport Directions

There are regular buses from Aberystwyth, Dolgellau and Machynlleth: T2 stops right outside and 34 stops in the village of Corris (a 10 minute walk away).  Sustans Cycle Route 8 passes nearby. There are direct trains from Birmingham to Machylleth.

* Corris Mine Explorers trips run daily until 4th November. The Pathfinder and Adventurer trip are available to book online and also on arrival. In addition, group visits and the Exclusive Mine Expedition can be booked by contacting us by email info@corrismineexplorers.co.uk or phoning 01654 761244. We chat with you to find out what you and your group would like and tailor your underground exploration for you. We also offer Underground Christmas Parties. On our Christmas Party trips you get the underground space of the old Braich Goch mine to yourselves with lots of exploring and festive fun thrown in.
