The new long - distance path is fast gaining a reputation as an adventure which takes you through the heart of the North Wales slate quarrying industry whilst passing through picturesque villages, rural Welsh communities and stunning landscapes
The route starts near the city of Bangor and ends at the village of Bethesda via a circular route. Along the way you will travel from sea level, via mountain passes, weave through slate quarries and buildings whilst walking along a combination of cycle tracks, paths, open countryside and established trails.

The 83 - mile route can be completed between five and ten days but seven days is normally sufficient to experience the impressive slate heritage of North Wales at a manageable pace whilst still having the time to appreciate and enjoy the beautiful landscape of Snowdonia.

We offer a fully guided walking service for this route. All our staff are bilingual Welsh speakers and are local to North Wales and have also been brought up in some of the villages that you will walk through. Our staff also have friends and family who still work in the quarrying industry of North Wales which means you’ll get a truly authentic experience whilst walking the Snowdonia Slate Trail or "Llwybr Llechi Eryri" in Welsh. We will show you the special, hidden gems along the route including magical slate workings and quarries and ensure you have a fantastic adventure along the way!
Two evening lectures are also included to make sure you get that unique and authentic experience.
Free parking with CCTV is available for the duration of your walk.
Your seven nights accommodation is included from the night prior to the first day as well as baggage transfers so that means all you have to do is enjoy the walking and take lots of photos!

Our support team will be in the background taking care of the little things but they are also there to assist you whilst you complete the route.
Along the route we'll call into cafes and other locations who will stamp our "Passport" and on completion of the route, you'll receive a commemorative medal and certificate!

If you fancy completing the trail over a series of weekends or in sections then we can arrange suitable dates and costs to help you. If you would like to complete the route on a self - guided basis then we can ensure you have all the support and information to do this safely. If our open course dates aren’t convenient or you would like to book a private group then please contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate your requirements.
You’ll find our latest dates for the Snowdonia Slate Trail on our website as well as information on all our other activities including climbing, mountain skills, navigation and other events throughout the year.
