We are located on the scenic A496 Coast road outside of Harlech.

20 minutes south of Porthmadog and 8 miles North of Barmouth. Award winning Harlech beach is 2 miles away as well as Historical Harlech Castle.

How to get to us

By car
Llanfair Slate Caverns is in Llanfair, near Harlech in Gwynedd. Use our postcode (LL46 2SA) in your sat nav and follow the signs for Llanfair Slate Caverns. Free on-site parking is available.

Public Transport

If you are travelling by train, our nearest stations are Llandanwg and Pensarn, on the Cambrian Coast Line. Services run daily, please check the latest timetables before you travel.

If you are coming by bus, use the G23 and get off at Llanfair. We are around a five-minute walk from the stop.

Mid September- Half Term October 11am-4pm

Last entry is one hour before closing. Please note we do not provide a torch but you are welcome to bring your own to add to your adventure. Hard hats provided on entry to the mine.
