Things to do in Beaumaris

Things to do in Beaumaris

Beaumaris Pier was originally opened in 1846 but was rebuilt in 1872. The pier is great for crabbing and is close to the town centre and facilities and car parking nearby.

A large green space located in the town of Beaumaris is called the Green, which is next to the beach. Ideal for parking and picnics, the area also has great access to the beach and pier as well as a child’s park and outdoor pool.

On the outskirts of Beaumaris town is Penmon Point, a dog friendly beach with a small café.   Here you will find fantastic views of Puffin Island, The Great Orme and Snowdon.  Car park is available next to the café.

An area of outstanding natural beauty is Red Wharf Bay, a wind sandy beach.  At low tide almost 10 square miles of sand is uncovered, this disappears under the water twice daily. Here, there was once a railway line that terminated at the Bay.

On the other side of Beaumaris is the town of Menai Bridge is St Tysilio's Church, Church Island, in the small island in the Menai Strait. The church was constructed in the 15thcentury. There is a memorial for the local men killed during the world wars at the highest point of the island.  The church is reached only by foot, by a small causeway from the Belgian Promenade.  The history of the church is a little hazy, it is not known who or why the church was built.  The island is open at all times, however the church may not always be open.
