Ruthin
Ruthin is a small, attractive market town set in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd overlooked by the hills of the Clwydian Range and the Hiraethog Moors.
Explore the nooks and crannies of Ruthin Gaol - one of North Wales' most fascinating buildings. View the Pentoville cell block and learn about the Welsh 'Houdini'.
Nantclwyd Y Dre, Wales' oldest timbered town house has recently been restored to reflect 7 periods of its history and development. Visitors can walk back in time from the 1940's to 1435.
The Ruthin Craft Centre is a dynamic zinc and cast stone building with undulating roofs to echo the surrounding Clwydian hills. The centre houses 3 galleries, 6 artist studios, retail gallery, education and residency workshops, tourist information and a Caf with courtyard terrace.
The Clwydian Range, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1985 is a great destination for walking, cycling, horse riding and many other activities. It stretches from the coastal resort of Prestatyn in the North to the deep wooded valley of Nant y Garth in the South. The highest peak is at Moel Famau, 554 meters. The landscape is characterised by sweeping moorland, purple heather-clad hills, limestone crags and valleys. Loggerheads and Moel Famau Country Parks form the heart of the AONB where visitors can enjoy a range of activities.
