Zoos & Aquariums
One minute you're learning about baby seahorses. The next you're touching a giant Basking shark. Awesome nature and fascinating conservation come together at North Wales' zoos and aquariums.
We don't boast big, glitzy marine centres or safari parks. Instead North Wales Zoos and Aquariums focus on conservation, education and fun. As well as sharks and sea lions, lemurs and pandas, you'll learn a thing or two while enjoying a wonderful day out.
North Wales Zoos and Aquariums are great places for discovering your inner Attenborough!
In the hills above Colwyn Bay, Welsh Mountain Zoo features fascinating wildlife as well as beautiful gardens. Here you'll discover bears, chimps, exotic birds, lots of reptiles and the very large African Bullfrog! The zoo even operates a free minibus service from Colwyn Bay railway station in the summer.
Down on the wildlife-rich waters of the Menai Strait, Anglesey Sea Zoo puts its emphasis on conservation and education, and showcases all that local sea life. Discover incredible invertebrates in the No Bone Zone and see conservation in action at the Lobster Hatchery and the Seahorse Nursery. There are lots of other attractions here for children too - so you can leave them to it while you grab a bite to eat at the cafe.
Prepare to get wet on Rhyl's seafront at Seaquarium. Here you can meet harbour seals and thrill at the skills of agile sea lions. The aquarium features species from around the world as well as a sea tunnel - great for getting up close to some new, fishy friends!
