Part of the oldest property in the historic village of Bangor-on-Dee, built in the 1630s, retaining original oak beams and wattle-and-daub walls. The 4/5 bed Stableyard Cottage is within the 17th century building, while the 2/3 bed cottages, Afon and Derwen, are barnstyle conversions of 19th century outbuildings, looking out onto a colourful garden. All cottages have outside seating areas. Two excellent local pubs and Bangor-on-Dee racecourse easily accessible. 300 metres from the River Dee and its ancient bridge (fishing by arrangement). Convenient for Chirk Castle, Erddig, Plassey, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct World Heritage Site, Chester, Whitchurch, Ellesmere, Shrewsbury, Llangollen and Snowdonia. Ideal for wedding guests at St Dunawd’s church (200 metres away), walkers and cyclists staying over in the area and for short-term or long-term business visitors to Wrexham Business Park and Industrial Estate, Yale College and Prifysgol Glyndŵr Wrecsam. Prices include a welcome pack of do-it-yourself breakfasts, comprising cereal, muesli, free range eggs, bread, butter, preserves, plus tea, coffee and milk. Free Wifi. Two resident cats, Nora and Behnaz, should not trouble you for anything more than a kind stroke or tickle, but this does make it difficult to accommodate guests’ pets. Small dogs that do not shed or moult are very welcome.
