Llanberis

Nestling at the foot of Snowdon on the shores of Padarn Lake, Llanberis is a popular centre for walkers and climbers and is a convenient base for ascending Snowdon either by foot or by the famous Snowdon Mountain Railway. The village has a selection of cafes, restaurants and bistros to suit all appetites, a variety of shops and places to stay and a unique range of attractions.

Padarn Country Park is the setting for the National Slate Museum, the Llanberis Lake Railway and many other attractions. Much of the park is a hillside of oak woodland overlooking Llyn Padarn (Padarn Lake). The land was once part of Dinorwig Slate Quarry and you can explore the footpaths created over the years by the quarrymen as they walked to and from their work.

Adjacent to the Park is Dinorwig Power Station, Europe's largest pumped storage scheme. Visitors can take a tour of the power station from the Electric Mountain Visitor Centre by the side of the lake.
