Conwy

Dominated by its castle built by Edward I, the walled town of Conwy overlooks the estuary of the River Conwy over towards Deganwy. Conwy Castle is one of the most impressive examples of medieval military architecture and offers spectacular views of both the estuary and the mountains.

Visit Plas Mawr, the best preserved Elizabethan town house in Britain, now in the care of CADW. Behind Plas Mawr is the Royal Cambrian Academy, a modern gallery with changing exhibitions by Wales' foremost artists.

A must for nature lovers is the Pensychnant Nature Conservation Centre, 120 acres of heaths and woods with spring birds, rare moths, guided walks and talks.

The town hosts many different events from the historic Honey Fair and Seed Fair to the Conwy Feast - North Wales' largest food festival.

The narrow, cobbled streets have a unique blend of specialist shops offering unusual and distinctive products.
