Colwyn Bay

Situated in the middle of a large sweeping bay between Rhyl to the East and Llandudno to the West, Colwyn Bay has an award winning beach with three miles of golden sand, a pier and plenty of opportunities for trying out a range of watersports including sailing, jet skiing and fishing. Theatre Colwyn offers a packed calendar of events from ballet to big-screen blockbusters. Visit Glaze Away ceramic café where you can enjoy a snack and discover your creative side at the same time! The town is a regular winner of the Wales in Bloom large town trophy and the floral displays are well worth a look. Head inland into the hills above the town to the Welsh Mountain Zoo.

Every Tuesday and Saturday there is a General Market and a farmers market every Thursday.

From Colwyn Bay, walk along the promenade to the harbour town of Rhos-on-Sea. The town has some interesting little shops and you can catch regular performances at the Harlequin Puppet Theatre which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year (2008). Visit the tiny 6th Century chapel of saint Trillo, it's one of the smallest in Britain with room for a congregation of just six people.
