Details

In a stunning hillside location right on the Shropshire/Welsh border, this silver-stone Georgian Rectory is now a stylish country house hotel. Set in five acres of grounds, with no passing traffic, Pen-y-Dyffryn combines unobtrusive hospitality with high standards of service, guaranteeing that ""away-from-it-all"" feeling.

Pen-y-Dyffryn is a member of Welsh Rarebits, and was chosen as ""Country Hotel of the Year"" by The Good Hotel Guide. We have also been nominated as Johansen's ""Best Value Hotel"", and the restaurant has two AA rosettes.

Some bedrooms have en-suite spa baths, others have private patios. The star of the piece, however, is the hotel's hillside setting facing the Welsh mountains to the west. ""Sundowners"" are a must! And toast your toes by the log fires in the cooler months.

The National Trust properties of Powis Castle, Chirk Castle, Attingham and Erddig are all nearby, as is Wales' highest waterfall and beautiful Lake Vyrnwy. The medieval towns of Shrewsbury and Chester are both within half an hour. Excellent hill walking. Pets welcome.
