Llechwedd Slate Caverns

A great day out - come rain or shine! Adventure into history - Take the Miners Tramway and experience the life of a Victorian Quarryman or travel into the Deep Mine and marvel at the spectacular underground caverns. Come up again and see the art of slate being split while the children let off steam in the playground or paint their own slate coaster.

Welsh Highland Railway/Rheilffordd Eryri

One of the Great Little Trains of Wales, this line runs from Caernarfon through the pretty village of Beddgelert and on to Porthmadog through some of Snowdonia's most breathtaking scenery. The full 25 mile line offers a complete day out and ‘Day Away' tickets are available. Other shorter journeys are also possible. At Porthmadog it links up with the world's oldest independent railway, the Ffestiniog, thus offering the chance to experience 40 miles of narrow gauge steam.

Snowdon Mountain Railway

Travel on Britain's only public rack and pinion railway to Hafod Eryri, the stunning new visitor centre at the Summit of Snowdon. Since 1896 visitors from around the world have travelled on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. Today anybody can savour the breathtaking views and claim this mountain as one of their lifetime achievements.
Operating Days: Weather permitting trains will run every day from mid March to the end of October.

Rheilffordd Ffestiniog Railway

The Ffestiniog Railway is one of the famous Great Little Trains of Wales and the oldest independent railway company in the World. Originally built to carry slate, steam engines now haul a mixture of modern and vintage carriages filled with passengers between Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog through the beautiful Vale of Ffestiniog.
At Porthmadog, it connects with its new sister railway, the Welsh Highland, giving a variety of journey options. Day rover tickets help you to explore.

Llangollen Railway

Travel through the picturesque Dee Valley from Llangollen. The 7½ mile standard gauge line passes some of the most stunning scenery in North Wales.

Welsh Highland Heritage Railway

The Welsh Highland Heritage Railway in Porthmadog is an experience for everyone. A short train ride, either by steam or diesel engines with vintage carriages leads you to the Museum where you can climb onto the trains on show, learn about the narrow gauge trains of Wales and children can create their own brass rubbing of train signs. A miniature railway takes you through the wooded area at the side of the main line. The tea room has a good menu and the shop stocks railway models for any age, books and much more. Everyone welcome. Find us opposite the Cambrian railway station.

Nant Gwrtheyrn
