National Beekeeping Centre

We are a non-profit distributing organisation whose aim is to help develop a vigorous, healthy and environmentally responsible beekeeping industry in Wales. We will promote good practice, accurate and accessible public information, and involve the community.

Our visitor centre and apiary within the perimeter of Bodnant Welsh Foods are both informative and fun. In the heart of Conwy valley an area strong with beekeeping heritage that thrives to this day.

We also provide beekeeping education and training at Bangor University’s Henfaes Research Farm in Abergwyngregyn and next year plan to have Queen bee mating in the bee-friendly garden initiative at Ty Hyll, better known as The Ugly House near Betws-y-Coed.

We have experienced beekeepers and a strong management team with knowledge and expertise of Welsh enterprises with environmental and sustainability practice at their heart.. A team of six NBCW staff and a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers make up the full operation.

Free entry into visitor centre.

We will be offering a variety of courses for people ranging from those who have never kept bees through to experienced beekeepers. Courses start at £75 per person.
